Important Reminder

At the 2008 Annual General Meeting, in Saskatoon, the voting delegates approved an amendment to the SALPN’s Regulatory Bylaw 11 to include the following clauses:

(e) complete courses or challenge programs, approved by the Council, in health assessment and administration of medications
(f)  as of December 1 2012, complete or challenge the health assessment program or basic program equivalent
(g) as of December 1 2010, complete the medications administration program or basic program equivalent.

According to the bylaw, LPNs will be required to complete:

• PHAR 264 Administration of Medications offered by SIAST.  All LPNs graduating after 1993 are deemed to have the equivalent education.
  
• NURS 227 Health Assessment for LPNs offered by SIAST or they can challenge the course.  LPNs can challenge the course by contacting SIAST. LPNs graduating in 2001 and later are deemed to have the equivalent education

This bylaw amendment was approved October 2008 and is now a requirement of licensure by the dates specified above.
